Herefordshire Historic Churches Trust provides financial help with repairs, restoration and improvement to churches of all denominations. With our grants for essential repairs, we help churches help themselves. Their history and architecture is unique to our environment. It is up to us to preserve them

Welcome to the website of the Hereford Historic Churches Trust.  Many of our church buildings have been here for centuries.  They are architectural gems that preserve much of the history of the county. They provide not just a spiritual focus for our communities, but a practical one as well. From the earliest times they have been spaces for gathering together and building communities now providing venues for things as diverse as foodbanks and post offices.

The trust plays a vital role in supporting their maintenance and development through financial and other support. Although congregations are often smaller these days, many people continue to be drawn to these sacred spaces for private prayer and reflection and so keeping them open is vital.

We hold a number of events throughout the year to raise money for churches. One of our most popular fundraising initiatives is Music in Quiet Places, which is a calendar of concerts featuring local and internationally renowned musicians playing in our county’s churches. For 2025 we are had the Risca Male Choir at Treago Castle and Ledbury Brass, Apollo 5 in May at Holy Trinity Church, Hereford and a Wild Arts Gala Opera Evening at Eastnor Castle in September. In addition we hosted two concerts for Music in Country Churches at St. Mary’s Church, Ross-on-Wye
