The churches of Herefordshire are a major part of our historic identity. They are the major component of our county’s heritage offering and the work of the Churches Trust is to help preserve these exceptional buildings. Whilst worship, the principal focus for any church, must remain important, the church is not just for practising Christians but for all of us to enjoy. Here is an article written by Executive Committee member Ben Furnival about how heritage cannot be taken for granted and how in Bristol, heritage has been under attack – and lost. Our churches are safe for now, but we must all remain vigilant in defence of our heritage and remember that there are battles still being won, and lost.
